Tell me a bit about yourself:
My name is Amie Brady and I live in Maryland--smack in the middle of Baltimore and D.C. I am married to the most wonderful man who is in the Air Force. We have been married for 9 years and over those 9 years we have lived in Japan, Texas and now Maryland! We have 3 beautiful boys who are our world. I have always loved taking pictures but it wasn't until my first son was born in Japan that I really set out to learn more about the art of photography. What started as a simple hobby has now turned into a full time desire to take photos and capture those memories so soon forgotten.

What do you like to do when you have free time?
I love to read, Nicholas Sparks is my favorite author. I also love to do digital scrapbooking--although I'm way behind on my poor children's albums, haha! Also nothing beats curling up on the couch with my favorite blanket and watching a movie with my hubby.

Favorites Movies:
I love movies but my top 3 would be, in no particular order, Sound of Music, Anne of Green Gables, and A League of Their Own---great movies!!

When did you start your business?
I started my business in 2009 when we were still in Texas, we then relocated to Maryland in 2010 and I felt like I was starting all over again--which in a sense I was with a new client base!

Is there anything in particular that sticks out in your mind about starting your business?
It was A LOT harder than I thought it would be! Also balancing being a mom (my first and #1 job) with being a photographer--it's been a struggle for me and one I am still trying to find a happy medium with.

Time management? How do you do it? Is it a struggle? Recommendations?
Still trying to figure this part out! This fall, with a very busy schedule forming already, I have decided I am just doing sessions on certain days and I won't be afraid to say no if my time is booked. Last year at this time I took on way too much and ended up stretching myself too thin. It was a definite learning and growing experience for me. It is a struggle for me and something I am always trying to find a solution for!

Chocolate or vanilla?
chocolate!!!

If you had advice for other women in business what would it be?
BE YOU! You are the only you and you are fabulous! It's not fun to try to fit in another mold---figure out your style and go with it--that is what will shine in your work--you being true to yourself and your own fabulous style!

Thank you so much Amie for taking the time to give us some more information about the artist behind the business!! Stop by and say hi to Amie when you have a chance!!
